A Faber kitchen chimney is a range hood, not a replacement glass chimney for an oil lamp. A useful shortlist starts with your kitchen’s installation requirements; an unrelated accessory with “chimney” in its name is not an alternative hood.

Research note: This is a planning guide based on the manufacturer’s published resources, not a hands-on product test or a ranking of five tested models. Check the installation manual for the exact model before ordering.
Start with the installation, not the advertised suction number
Write down where your cooktop sits and what is above it. A cooktop against a wall, one beneath cabinets and one on an island present different mounting problems. A photo of the whole cooking area is useful, but it does not replace measurements. Record the available width, cabinet depth and ceiling height, then ask your installer which hood arrangements the space can accommodate.
Faber’s range-hood selection guide distinguishes wall, island, insert and undercabinet arrangements, as well as ducted and recirculating operation. Use those categories to narrow the search before comparing controls or finishes.
Ducted or recirculating: make the route explicit
A ducted installation sends extracted air outdoors. A recirculating installation returns filtered air to the room. They are different installation plans, not interchangeable promises on a retailer’s listing. Ask which mode your proposed model supports and which accessories that mode requires.
Draw the intended route from the hood to its outlet. If there is no existing outdoor route, do not assume installing one will be simple. A landlord, building manager or installer may need to assess the proposed work. Have that conversation before buying a hood that depends on it.
Build a comparison sheet for exact model numbers
Two similarly named products can have different dimensions or accessories. Keep each candidate’s complete model number at the top of its own comparison column.
| Record this | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Mounting arrangement and dimensions | Does the unit fit the actual cabinet or wall space? |
| Installation manual | Has the installer checked this exact model? |
| Duct connection and route | Does the proposed route match the manual’s requirements? |
| Recirculation accessories, if applicable | Which parts are required, and which are included? |
| Electrical requirements | What installation work does the model require? |
| Cleaning and replacement parts | Can you access filters and obtain the correct replacements? |
| Complete installed quote | Does it include delivery, accessories and installation work? |
Faber publishes model-specific documents in its technical specification library. Save the relevant documents with the quote. If a retailer’s description conflicts with the manual, resolve the conflict with the manufacturer rather than guessing.
Separate the hood from its accessories
A grease filter, charcoal filter, duct kit or glass lamp chimney is not a complete kitchen range hood. Check the listing’s contents and model compatibility. “Fits Faber” should lead to a specific compatibility statement, not a decision based only on a photograph or similar dimensions.
For a replacement part, start with the model number of the appliance you already own. For a complete installation, ask for the hood and every required accessory as separate lines on the quotation. This makes omissions visible before the delivery arrives.
Check the everyday tasks before signing off
Picture cleaning the filter, reaching the controls and replacing a light. Ask the dealer to demonstrate accessible parts where possible. Choose a finish you can maintain and a control arrangement you can comfortably reach. Keep the manual, purchase receipt and installer contact details together for later maintenance.
Questions to send the dealer
- What is the complete model number and which installation manual applies?
- Which mounting and ventilation modes are supported for this model?
- What parts are included, and what must be purchased separately?
- What installation work is included in the written quote?
- What happens if the installer finds the proposed arrangement unsuitable?
The best candidate is the one whose installation requirements and ongoing maintenance you can actually meet. An impressive headline specification cannot resolve a missing duct route or the wrong mounting arrangement.
