Hi, I’m Nasir Uddin Khan. I run HomeNeeds24 from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and I started it for a simple reason: buying anything for your home online has become genuinely hard. Endless near-identical options, reviews that read like adverts, and no straight answer to the only question that matters — which one should I actually buy, and what size do I need?
Who I am, and why an IT engineer runs a home-products site
By profession I’m a senior IT consultant with 18+ years of hands-on experience since 2007 — Oracle database administration, enterprise infrastructure architecture, ERP system design and data security. I work with software firms, banks, pharmaceutical and logistics organisations in Bangladesh and internationally. You can verify that background on my professional profile.
That may sound unrelated to kitchen appliances, and in one sense it is — I’m not a chef or an interior designer. But two things carry across, and they are the reason this site exists in the form it does.
The first is method. My working life is spent sizing systems correctly: how much memory a database needs, how much headroom a server needs, what happens at peak load. Sizing a room air conditioner, a rug or a curtain drop is the same class of problem — a calculation, not a guess. Most home-product content answers “which brand?” and quietly skips “what size?”, which is the question people actually get wrong and pay for twice.
The second is that I build things. Every calculator on this site is written by me, in-house, and runs entirely in your browser.
The free calculators are the point of this site
There are 13 free tools here, and they are the part I’m proudest of. They are built from published engineering and industry standards rather than opinion — the air-conditioner tool uses the US Department of Energy’s ~20 BTU per square foot baseline with adjustments for ceiling height, sun exposure, occupancy and kitchen load; the TV tool follows established viewing-distance guidance; paint uses the standard 350 sq ft per gallon coverage with real deductions for doors and windows; curtains use the 2–2.5× fullness rule drapery makers actually work to.
Each one was checked against those reference figures before it went live. Nothing is transmitted, logged or stored — there is no account to create, and closing the tab discards everything. You can see them all on the Home Calculators page.
How our buying guides are actually researched — and what we don’t do
I want to be straight about this, because most sites are not.
We do not run a product testing lab. I have not personally used all several hundred products written about on this site, and any site claiming otherwise at this scale is not telling you the truth.
What we do instead is structured research: manufacturer specifications and documentation, published safety and efficiency standards, patterns across large volumes of verified customer reviews, and the trade-offs that repeat often enough to be real rather than anecdotal. Where a recommendation rests on research rather than personal use, that is exactly what it is — a well-researched shortlist, not a lab verdict.
Where I do have direct experience — home networking, smart-home devices, electrical and energy questions, anything computer-adjacent — I say so in the guide itself.
